Home Surveys

Many people are not aware that asbestos has been used in their homes or commercial spaces. However, if they sense something is wrong, they can always contact us. Militar Asbestos Solutions carries out a home survey (This service is fully chargeable) to ascertain if there is any kind of asbestos present in the building and whether and to which extent it is susceptible to toxic fumes which are asbestos-related.

We send a well-qualified and fully-licensed team of technicians to ascertain the presence of asbestos. This home survey provides a route map for any kind of further action which needs to be taken. After carrying out the survey, there is a written report which is prepared by our trained staff and given to the client for review. After reviewing, the client can decide whether to go for a complete asbestos removal process or not.

For the general information of our visitors, we are providing a general overview of the home survey. The survey is carried out by our trained staff which look for any type of asbestos-related damage in the following areas:

1. FLOOR TILES: The flooring of the building has maximum chances of asbestos-related damage. The tiles may contain vinyl asbestos, asphalt, and rubber. There can also be asbestos-related damage on the backing of vinyl sheet flooring, and on the adhesives that have been used for installing the floor tiles. Sanding the tiles can release fibres.

2. ROOFING WITH THE SIDING SHINGLES: Asbestos is commonly found in the roof of buildings which is susceptible to damage due to being in direct contact with different kinds of weather phenomenon.

3. TEXTURED PAINT: Although banned way back in 1977, some houses still have a coating of textured paints and in the patching chemical compounds used that are used mostly on the wall and some extent on the ceiling joints. These may contain asbestos.

4. HOT WATER AND STEAM PIPES: In some older houses, these pipes were coated with an asbestos material or were covered with asbestos tape. Hence there is a probability of finding asbestos here.

5. DOOR GASKETS: Asbestos is most commonly found in the door gaskets.

This is a general overview of where our technicians look for asbestos-related damage while doing a home survey. Asbestos is also present in oil and coal furnaces, stove-top pads, artificial ashes and embers, and many other places. After carrying out the survey, a report is prepared, which is then presented to the client for scrutiny and further action if necessary.
